Why removing graffiti fast costs less than removing it well

Concrete walkway after graffiti removal

Graffiti removal is one of the few jobs where how quickly you call genuinely changes the price.

Fresh paint comes off easily

Aerosol paint continues curing and continues penetrating porous substrates for weeks. Removed in the first days it lifts out of the surface texture readily. Left through a summer of heat and UV it is bonded into the pores, and removal becomes far more aggressive — which on soft masonry is exactly what you cannot afford to be.

Tags attract tags

A tagged wall that stays tagged reads as unwatched. The second and third tags follow, usually within days. Removing the first one promptly is the cheapest form of prevention available.

The wall you clean this week costs a fraction of the wall you clean next spring.

Document it first

Photograph before removal. Police services generally want it for reporting, and it matters for insurance and for tracking repeat activity at a site.

Downtown Medicine Hat and the older streets through SE Hill and Riverside carry a lot of soft, porous brick. On that substrate the difference between removing a tag this week and next month is the difference between a clean lift and a permanent shadow.

Standing arrangementsFor property managers with multiple sites, a standing arrangement removes the quote step entirely — which is usually what actually delays removal.
