The blasting season here, and how to book around it

Our year is shaped by temperature and daylight far more than by how busy we are. Knowing the shape of it means you get the slot you want.

Spring — March to May

The rush. Everyone who spent winter looking at a tired deck or a grey cabin calls at once. Exterior wood work starts as soon as it holds above freezing overnight, because stain will not cure otherwise. Book this in January or February.

Summer — June to August

Peak. Long days, reliable weather, everything possible. Also when sealing works best, because sealer needs warmth to cure. The busiest stretch, and the one that fills first.

Fall — September to October

The best-kept secret. Weather is still workable, the rush has passed, and it is the right time for farm equipment coming out of harvest. Our most available good-weather window.

Winter — November to March

Outdoor work largely stops. Wet blasting is out, stain will not cure, and daylight is short. What does work is anything that can come to us or be done under cover — vehicle work, components, wheels, site furniture, small parts.

The season is not the same across the area. Medicine Hat and Redcliff dry out and warm up first, the open country toward Bow Island and Foremost follows, and Elkwater and the Cypress Hills come last by a matter of weeks.
