How to send a photo that gets you an accurate number
Texting a photo is the fastest way to a price, and a good set of photos gets you a number rather than a range.
The four shots
- Wide. The whole item with something for scale, plus how it sits and how we would get to it.
- Mid. One face or section filling the frame.
- Close. The worst area — the failing coating, the rust, the damage.
- Access. Where it is and what is around it. On buildings, one shot showing the ground and any obstacles.
The three facts
- Rough size. Length of the trailer, square footage of the deck, height of the wall.
- What is on it now. Paint, stain, powder coat, galvanising, or bare and rusted.
- What happens next. Paint, stain, powder coat, or nothing.
Why the last one matters most
The standard we prepare to is set by what goes on afterwards. Preparing for a high-performance industrial coating is a different job from preparing for a farm enamel, on the same piece of steel.
It matters more the further out you are. A photo that answers the questions above saves a site visit to Bow Island, Foremost or Elkwater, and usually saves you money on the quote as well.
